To graduate, every Rice student must accumulate a minimum of 24 credits. These credits must include the following:
English | 4 credits |
Religion* | 4 credits |
Social Studies | 3 credits (including US History) |
Science | 3 credits |
Mathematics | 3 credits |
Foreign Language | 2 credits (of the same language) |
Fine Arts | 1 credit |
Physical Education** | 1 credit |
Health*** | .5 credit |
Information Technology*** | .5 credit |
*All students, regardless of faith, take a Religion course each year they attend Rice.
**Rice does not offer Physical Education classes. Credit is earned by participation in athletics, an active gym membership, and/or demonstrated wellness activities.
***These credits are earned through the Freshmen Foundations class.
All students must enroll in a minimum of 6 periods of course work per semester. Exceptions to this policy are only made in extreme extenuating circumstances and only with approval of the Assistant Principal.
