The mission of the Rice Memorial High School Guidance Department is to provide a comprehensive counseling program that supports students academic and career goals, in addition to supporting their personal and social needs. We are committed to promoting life-long learning, personal, moral, and academic growth, as well as aiding students in becoming responsible, culturally aware, and productive members of a changing society. Our mission is supported and further strengthened by consultation and collaboration with teachers, parents, administrators, staff and our community.
Each year Rice hosts two events for parents who are interested in learning more about the nuts and bolts of the college application. This year, we are hosting the first “College 101” on March 15th from 8:15am-9:30 am in the Rice Library. Topics include but are not limited to Naviance, the Common Application, SAT/ACT testing and financial aid. If you have questions, please contact Ms. Rabbin or Mrs. Hill at [email protected] or [email protected]
On Thursday, March 16th, our sophomores and juniors will be able to attend VSAC’s College & Career Pathways event at Saint Michael’s College. Students will attend the event from 9:00am-1:45pm and will participate in three 45-minute workshops of their choosing and eat lunch in the school cafeteria. There is no cost to attend, and lunch is included. Workshops will include how to choose, apply to, and pay for college or career training programs, and pathways to skilled trades and great careers that don’t require a degree. Permission slips due: Monday, 2/13. Get all the information.
