Five Rice musicians recently participated in the New England Music Festival Association's Concert Festival held at The Woodstock Academy in Woodstock, CT. The students spent two full days in rehearsals before presenting outstanding performances on Saturday, March 25th at the Loos Performing Arts Center at the host school. Representing Rice were vocalists Markus Hammer, Aleksander Kulapin, Moorea Lambert and Gabe Thompson who all performed in the New England Chorus. Violist Elizabeth Cunningham performed in the New England Orchestra and was seated 1st Viola. Connor Trombly was also accepted into this event, but unfortunately was ill and could not attend.
While there Gabe Thompson received the 2023 Burton Cowgill - New England Music Festival vocal scholarship for his four years of participation and having the highest adjudication rating this year. Rice educator Steffen Parker serves as the Festival Director of this annual event.
