"Academic Excellence" is not simply a buzzword. It's a crucial part of our mission to help each student achieve their God-given potential. Rice provides opportunities for students to grow, develop deep academic interests, and prepare for college and careers. We work hard to make sure our teaching and our culture celebrates challenging, engaging academics - it's at the foundation of who we are. See what Rice does differently and sets our curriculum apart.
More about AcademicsWe offer 23 varsity sports and 12 additional teams across three seasons. We understand that athletic programs teach essential values like hard work, commitment, leadership, discipline, teamwork, and physical fitness, all while fostering sportsmanship and teaching students how to balance academics and priorities.
Because we're a small school, many students have the opportunity to tryout and play for multiple teams, even if it's a new sport for them. Additionally, if students participate in sports or activities we don’t offer—such as freeskiing or luge—we work with them to create a schedule that supports their ability to continue these activities outside of school.
More About Athletics“Community” is a phrase often used in schools. At Rice, it’s a way of life. With 400 students – nearly 1/3 the size of most local public high schools – a sense of belonging is established quickly. Small classes allow teachers an opportunity to really know their students. Underclassmen are recognized and mentored by older students. And, respect for one another is expected, allowing students the freedom to try something different, often discovering new gifts and talents along the way.
